Job Summary

Process and review research protocols involving human subjects and related actions in and obtain needed institutional approvals. This position requires excellent communication skills and appropriate application of research administration principles, practices and procedures.









Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree; Three (3) or more years of professional experience in research administration or regulatory compliance; Three (3) or more years of demonstrated experience conducting regulatory review of research involving biomedical and/or social behavioral research design; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required to work effectively with all levels of staff, faculty, and investigators.

  • Computer proficiency and comfort with electronic technology required.

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and apply complex regulations, policies and procedures.











    Essential Duties and Responsibilities



    • Complete the pre-review process for new IRB protocol applications, screen revised applications and re-submissions, modification requests and obtain the needed institutional approvals while securely maintaining IRB records as appropriate to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

    • Assist investigators by interpreting applicable policies, procedures, guidelines, federal regulations, and other compliance related requirements and advising them on how to comply with these requirements.

    • Develop and maintain working relationships with internal/external departments/agencies and other organizations.

    • Provide clear, concise and detailed correspondence to investigators to ensure concerns, questions, and rationale are appropriately communicated.

    • Conduct IRB assistance workshops and training presentations and identify educational opportunities for the UTD research community.

    • Assist IRB team with system improvements and implementation.

    • Reads literature and attends training and other functions as necessary to keep abreast of relevant scientific, regulatory, and technical developments
      related to oversight of research.

    • Other duties as assigned.
