Position Summary:

The Director of Financial Planning and Analysis will create a culture of continuous improvement by communicating and deploying best practices to improve cost, quality, delivery, employee job satisfaction and customer satisfaction.

Drive employee engagement through recognition and mentoring staff.  Provide developmental opportunities and job assignments to enhance employee performance and expand capabilities and retain a skilled and motivated workforce.

Establish partnerships and relationships with internal and external customers, stakeholders, peers and direct reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the evolution of the Corporate strategy while maintaining a solid grasp of the tactical needs of the organization.
  • Generate the financial framework and scenario analysis necessary to guide decision making, internal resource allocation, investment evaluation, and measurement of returns and effectiveness through five key areas:
    • Monthly three statement financial model – develop and maintain a three statement financial model combining operating data with financial information to assess monthly results and provide insight into near term operations, earnings, and cash flows.
    • Annual planning and forecasting process – develop and manage an efficient process balancing the needs of field input and ownership with the organization’s need for efficiency and ease of use.  Strike the right balance between consumption of detailed operating metrics and flexibility.
    • Investment decision modeling – develop and maintain tools to assess various business investment opportunities ranging from acquisitions to new products and organic growth opportunities.  Assess the risk associated with the opportunities, and measure their performance against the investment thesis.
    • Performance management – understand and guide the use of various Key Performance Indicators.  Provide insight into their use, making recommendations for actions that will enhance performance
    • Business intelligence design and support – guide the development and use of the business intelligence strategy and tools.  Define and maintain a library of operating metrics relevant to the business.
  • Provide clear, timely and accurate reporting for the Executive Leadership Team, the Field Leadership Team, and the Board of Directors. Supply the executive team and operating leadership with key dashboards to address business questions by designing financial analytics and graphing that can be leveraged across the enterprise.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA preferred
  • Minimum 8+ years in an FP&A role
  • Experience in a leadership role(s) building and leading a team of experts in FP&A

Essential demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Possess a strong sense of intellectual curiosity; motivated to examine and understand the fundamental drivers of a particular problem, bring them to the forefront of discussion, and effect change in the organization.
  • An innovative thinker willing to instigate disruptive change while possessing the character and communication skills to do so in a constructive manner.
  • Knowledge of financial applications within FP&A and an understanding of financial & operating data relations and interdependencies. Strong Excel skills required and experience with Hyperion Essbase / Smartview a plus.
  • Strong functional knowledge of accounting principles. The FP&A leader must possess a far-reaching understanding of accounting and reporting in order to successfully partner with other parts of the finance organization, including accounting, finance operations and investor relations.
  • Extensive prior involvement with operational finance including first-hand knowledge of business operations and has served as the primary financial partner to functional or divisional leadership.
  • Excellent analytical, financial modeling and presentation skills with the ability to analyze raw data, draw conclusions, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • A team player who understands the importance of the role as a key support function to the operating team while working with multiple teams simultaneously
