The Manufacturing and Test Engineering team at EO Innovations drives Raytheon Technologies competitiveness in optical components, assemblies and systems now and in the future. We are responsible for performing all engineering activities and leading the organization to deliver a quality product on time, at or below cost in a safe environment. We do this by collaborating with customers, program management and business leadership to identify and meet current and future program and business needs. Enabling the factory to execute to these needs on time and at or below cost by forecasting future business needs and developing enabling technologies and expertise. Performing concurrent engineering during the product concept and design phases to drive producibility into the design. Rapid iteration of process development and improvement to consistently achieve higher first pass yield and throughput. Growing the engineering team via training, experiential learning, publication, connectivity and leadership within the optics manufacturing industry. Driving accountability for velocity, efficiency and growth throughout the organization. This opportunity currently exists within the Manufacturing and Test Engineering for a Diamond Point Turning Process Engineer. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: + Provide process engineering support for diamond turning operation including drawing producibility review, process development, process documentation, conceptual tooling design, CNC programming, process troubleshooting, and metrology support + Plan the sequence of operations for Diamond Point Turing processes, ensuring drawing requirements are met, while meeting cost, schedule, and quality goals, and enabling operator effectiveness + Review specifications, procedures, and related engineering documents to ensure compliance + Assist in bid and proposal activities by estimating hours required for various DPT activities. + Participate in continuous improvement by analyzing the manufacturing data and implementing process improvements + Determine equipment required for meeting design, and test requirements + Provide mentoring/training and support of DPT operations personnel + Analyze product failures to determine cause and recommend/implement corrective action + Support troubleshooting of equipment failures to determine cause and recommend/implement corrective action + Develop advanced technological ideas and guide their development into a final product + Serve as an organization spokesperson on advanced projects and/or programs + Act as an advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: + 4+ years of experience in a precision manufacturing environment + Interpret engineering prints to determine requirements. GD&T practices per ASME Y14.5 + Process development and documentation + Programming of DPT equipment using Diffsys + Experience using metrology equipment such as interferometers. + Conducting process improvements, RCCAs, and FRBs + Experience leading advanced projects and/or programs + Experience serving as an advisor to management and customers + Self-motivated, capable of organizing and completing own efforts and interfacing well with engineers and factory personnel + Proficiency working with Excel, Word, and other Microsoft products, especially in the collection, organization, processing, and presentation of data + Able to modify/extend working hours in response to business needs + Excellent verbal and written communication skills Desired Experience/Skills: + Advanced degree in Mechanical or Precision Engineering + Experience with MRF polishing process + Experience with Slow Tool and Fast Tool Servo free-form DPT processes + Experience with Matlab or similar analysis software + Experience with Creo or similar CAD software + Experience with CMM + Experience using computer generated holograms (CGH) for surface figure measurement Required Education and Experience: A Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience required, OR 2+ years with a Masters Degree OR a PhD Degree and 0+ years of experience Security Clearance: + This position requires ability to obtain a DOD Secret clearance.
