Calix is seeking a talented and passionate test engineer for a
smart home solutions test team. The position is part of a global
test team that is providing software testing and quality assurance
on an industry disrupting ecosystem comprised of cloud,
IoT/embedded systems, and mobile applications. This role works in
parallel with development as part of an end-to-end testing plan and
maintains a checks and balances approach throughout the development
process. The ideal candidate would work out of the Calix
Richardson, TX office, but remote opportunities could be considered
based on experience, etc.
The ideal candidate is one that is detail-oriented,
process-oriented/aware, and is self-motivated.
They will take ownership of the smart home integration and test
environment which is heavily Wi-Fi focused.
Independently set day to day work priorities while working to
achieve the goals of the team/organization in a dynamic fast-paced
Author test plans, execution of tests, reporting of software
issues and test results, reproduction and development support for
smart home solution-oriented testing.
Work with 3rd party and various internal cross-functional
organizations to analyze test results/field scenarios and reproduce
and identify issues.
Depending on the level of experience, they will provide
technical leadership and guide solution testing in focused
6+ years of software/hardware test experience on either cloud,
IoT/embedded systems, or mobile applications; preferably all.
Hands-on experience with xDSL, GPON, Ethernet, etc. access
Hands-on experience with basic and some advanced networking
technologies with an in-depth understanding of the TCP/IP protocol
suite (IPv4, IPv6, TCP, UDP, and other upper layer application
Hands-on experience with Wi-Fi testing (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax)
and to be able to effectively debug Wi-Fi system/protocol-level
Hands-on experience with smart home protocols such as Zigbee,
Excellent debugging skills, the ability to articulate defects
with detail, and excellent verbal/written communication skills
while working with local/remote teams to help understand issues,
address lab network issues, etc.
Must have excellent understanding of various testing
methodologies and be able to implement comprehensive test
strategies that examine a complex ecosystem.
Hands-on experience with performance test methods and tools;
e.g. – IxChariot, Spirent, Octoscope, Ixia, etc.
Hands-on experience and performance testing of multicast IPTV
and OTT video delivery systems is a plus.
Hands-on experience with Python automation with the ability to
develop scripts and maintain framework independently is a plus.
