The Network of Community Ministries ("Network") was founded over 37 years ago to provide a center for those in the Richardson community in need of immediate, fundamental support. With the mission: to care, coach, and empower our neighbors in need as they seek an improved quality of life, Network is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency serving the 14 zip codes within RISD, including portions that extend into Plano, Garland, and Dallas ISD areas. It is a non-denominational, community-based organization providing for over 67,000 individuals annually.

Governed by a 20-member Board of Directors and supported by 22 staff and approximately 1,138 volunteers, Network has significantly grown over the last few years. In 2016 its operating budget was $2.2M and today it has grown to $6-$7M with a successful $6M capital campaign in which a new building was acquired and renovated to serve the growing needs of the community.

The President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Network of Community Ministries along with the Board of Directors, provides the leadership, vision and management for the agency, helping community members to regain stability and providing access to strong programs that lead to self-sufficiency. The President and Chief Executive Officer has the pivotal position of maturing Network while stabilizing financial support and wisely positioning the organization for future growth and sustainability.

What you'll do and the impact you'll make:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the essential duties and responsibilities listed below.

Governance and Management- Partner with Board of Directors in generating long range planning and organizational development objectives including goal setting, strategic direction and advocacy planning- Prepare recommendations for growth and expansion. Create systems and processes that ensure the growth and integrity of the agency as it moves to meet its mission- Oversee development and implementation of programs, meetings, events and initiatives- Develop organizational calendar and work plans- Maintain liaisons with legal counsel and auditor, and ensure that the agency is in full legal and fiscal compliance with laws governing philanthropic public charities of 501(c) (3) status
Board Relations- Work with Board Chair and/or Board Development Committee to recruit and orient new members- Partner with Directors to seek out board development opportunities- Support leadership of Board by providing written information, conducting data collection as requested, and initiating ideas and identifying opportunities to foster growth and impact- Maintain communications with board members and oversee board meeting agendas

Staff and Workplace- Create a workplace that fosters respect, clear communication, and embraces diversity, equity and inclusion- Oversee personnel (paid and unpaid) including development of work plans, job objectives, goals and evaluations- Assess needs and create staff development opportunities- Exercise fairly and prudently sole authority to hire and fire staff- Oversee personnel policies including updates and revisions- Oversee convening of staff meetings and/or staff retreats- Provide big picture and program leadership to engage and motivate staff

Finance and Operations- In partnership with the Director of Finance, prepare annual budgets and modifications- Analyze data and long-range financial forecasts to enhance planning, development, and fundraising objectives- Oversee investments, financial manager, brokers, and others in partnership with the Director of Finance- Meet the financial plan by implementing sound financial policies and procedures as they relate to general funds and donor advised funds- Work alongside the Director of Finance and Finance Committee to develop and implement related policies and procedures

Fundraising- Meet overall budgetary demands of the organization- Partner with the Director of Development and Marketing to create and implement a strategic development plan that will allow the agency to meet its fundraising goals- Partner with the Director of Development and Marketing on general fund criteria and objectives, guide fund policies and procedures, and oversee donor funds- Develop and implement new special interest fund and/or program activities and initiatives- Maintain ongoing relationships with major donors and manage several specific donor partnerships- Assist in the development and implementation of events, donor visits, donor solicitations and other strategies to increase fundraising capacity

Public Relations and Communications- Develop and implement a long-term plan for the increased visibility of the organization- Advance public relations, including public speaking and media interviews, etc.- A central point of contact for media requests regarding activities and events- Attend conferences, briefings and events to increase visibility to funders and advocacy leaders- Partner with the Director of Development and Marketing on production of all organizational publications

Program Development- Partner with the Director of Programs to develop implementation guidelines and metrics that measure the impact of the programs on participants- Ensure the design of and implementation of program innovations and expansion- Define and refine value in programs to propel fund development activities

Other Philanthropic Relationships- Create partnerships in philanthropic circles- Attend and/or speak to funders, donors and grantees, about social change philanthropy- Convene meetings of funders to seek collaborative relationships- Cultivate relationships with large funders in seeking partners for the agency's mission
The successful candidate will lead a team of 22 staff, including four direct reports and serve as a liaison with the following Board Committees: Executive, Finance and Audit, Nominating, Internal, and External.
Top candidates will demonstrate the following experience and characteristics:- Demonstrated commitment to basic needs services that move individuals from short term assistance to long term independence- Demonstrated leadership ability and experience with strategic planning processes- Successfully managed a complex organizational/programmatic structure with cohesive yet divergent components- Demonstrated financial management and fundraising skills within a nonprofit organization with an annual operating budget of at least $3 million- Favorable experience supervising and motivating highly skilled staff- Demonstrated collaborative management style- Fifteen years of progressive experience, preferably in a non-profit or related setting- Excellent written and oral communications skills and demonstrated ability to coordinate strategic communications (publications, media and outreach campaigns)- Experience working collaboratively with non-profit board committees- Evidence of commitment to diversity and an understanding of how to work effectively in and with diverse communities- Available for and enthusiastic about high level networking and donor cultivation- "A-political" and upholds the organization's nonpartisan approach- Passion for the mission of Network- Bachelor's degree in Social Services or related area required; Master's degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training and expertise

Exhibits high emotional intelligence.- People skills: Personal leadership style that promotes collaboration and accessibility, retains high performing staff, and delegates and encourages individual accountability (evidenced by leading an environment recognized for a high level of organization, cost-effectiveness, accuracy, and results).
