Job Description:
Job Description Job Description Salary: About Exos Aerospace and
Martin Systems & Technologies, Inc. Exos Aerospace is a pioneering
suborbital space and materials test company specializing in
reusable rocket technology for suborbital space access. As one of
only three companies in the United States with a current FAA launch
license for a reusable rocket, Exos is at the forefront of
commercial space exploration. We leverage our integrated
pressurized structures and advanced Type 5 tank technologies to
develop efficient orbital transfer vehicles and in-house
capabilities. We hold an 18% ownership stake in Scorpius Space
Launch Company, with an option to complete the acquisition at a
2021 valuation before supporting their Type 5 tank technology
deployment on the Moon. As a 100% privately held company with a
vision to transition into an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP),
we are committed to empowering our team with ownership
opportunities. Exos Aerospace operates our machine shop, serving
both Exoss aerospace needs and select external clients as
opportunities arise. Our team currently includes one multi-skilled
machinist specializing in designing and machining rocket engines.
We seek a dynamic, multi-skilled professional to lead the machine
shop, complement our existing expertise, and contribute to the
assembly, testing, and operation of cutting-edge aerospace systems
in a versatile, multi-disciplinary environment. If you are
passionate about space exploration and have an entrepreneurial
spirit, apply to join us in shaping the future. Job Summary We are
seeking a highly skilled professional to serve as a Multi-Skilled
Machinist, Assembly Integration Technician (AIT), and Machine Shop
Lead supporting Exos Aerospaces mission, including a critical
1-year program for the U.S. Air Force/Space Force. The ideal
candidate is a high-functioning machinist with expertise in CNC
lathes and mills, proficiency in SolidWorks and CAM/CAD software,
and experience in aviation or aerospace instrumentation. This role
complements our existing machinists focus on rocket engine design
and fabrication by providing leadership for broader machine shop
operations and supporting assembly, integration, and testing (AIT)
of rocket-powered vehicles, including orbital transfer vehicles.
Immediate priorities include machining parts for a Space Force
Hover vehicle to prove a flight-weight RDRE engine, with
responsibilities evolving over the program duration. Key
Responsibilities Machining and Fabrication: Immediately prioritize
machining parts for a Space Force Hover vehicle to prove a
flight-weight RDRE engine as part of the 1-year program for the
U.S. Air Force/Space Force. Operate and program CNC lathes and
mills to fabricate precision components for rocket vehicles,
including components for integrated pressurized structures and Type
5 tank technologies used in orbital transfer vehicles,
complementing the existing machinists focus on rocket engine design
and production. Ensure adherence to tight tolerances and aerospace
standards. Responsibilities will evolve as the program progresses.
Assembly, Integration, and Testing (AIT): Assemble, integrate, and
test rocket-powered vehicles and orbital transfer vehicles for Exos
Aerospace, ensuring systems meet safety and performance
requirements. Instrumentation and Calibration: Install, calibrate,
and troubleshoot aviation/aerospace instruments, sensors, and
control systems critical to vehicle operations, including those
used in suborbital and orbital applications. Machine Shop
Leadership: Conduct daily operations of the machine shop, including
defining equipment maintenance processes, workflow optimization,
and quality control, while collaborating closely with the existing
rocket engine specialist. Business Development: Leverage existing
customer relationships to expand the machine shops services,
supporting Exos Aerospaces needs and serving select external
clients. Design and Programming: Utilize SolidWorks and CAM/CAD
software to design parts, generate toolpaths, and optimize
machining processes for efficiency and precision, coordinating with
the existing machinist on rocket engine designs and supporting
designs for Type 5 tank technologies and integrated pressurized
structures as needed. Operational Support: Assist in vehicle
testing, launch preparations, and post-test analysis, including
simulations and troubleshooting for suborbital and orbital systems.
Quality Assurance: Inspect parts and assemblies using precision
tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMM) to ensure compliance with
blueprints, schematics, and GD&T specifications. Collaboration:
Work closely with Exos Aerospace engineering teams and the existing
machinist to refine part designs, troubleshoot issues, and
implement process improvements in a multi-disciplinary setting.
Safety and Compliance: Maintain a safe, organized workspace,
adhering to protocols for handling hazardous materials (e.g., LOX,
ethanol) and complying with FAA, NASA, and AS9100 standards.
Documentation: Record procedures, test results, and maintenance
activities to meet regulatory and quality requirements. Required
